I built an XP-8 in the winter of 2000 without any help from anybody. We have no garage, so I did it outside under a roof (it was cold, I live in Massachusetts). I was 16. It took a bit more money than I thought. It was a lot of fun. I learned a ton about boats and boatbuilding. Right now I would build a 5-point hydro, if I wasn't at college. Instead, Im building a 20HP engine for it. That'll be fun... My little brother uses a PEE WEE that my moms cousin built in the 70's. Its a fast little boat. My XP-8 has a 9.8hp, and the PEE WEE has a 9.9HP. We raced a few weeks ago, and it was a dead tie. we both maxed out at around 25MPH. I cant wait to try it with the 20..hehe. Good luck.
