Alex,

I think the 1st step is to at least determine if your parents will allow you to build a boat, and allocate the space for the project. I started building boats at age 13, without parental assistance, but with their permission. I was so proud of that 1st boat that you couldn't get in it if you had your shoes on, I didn't want any dirt in the boat I built all by myself! Boatbuilding is a rewarding task, educational, and just a lot of good fun with great rewards. Yes, it requires a commitement and sacrifices of time and some money, but the rewards are well worth it. At this point I've built or restored many-many boats and at age 65 I still like it a lot! I hope it all works out that way for you too. I can't comment on the particular boat you inquired about, but I wanted to comment in a positive manner about boatbuilding.

You can see some of my work at:

I shall be interested in your decision and following your progress.

: Hi! I've been looking around the glenL site for about a year now and have decided that I would like to build a "PEE WEE" boat. I am only thirteen and weigh 110 pounds. As you can imagine I have an ultra-small budget but I am good with money and have a very large sum of money in my bank account, well, for my age... Anyway please give me advice if this is a good idea. I live in Canada and our family owns a cottage on a nicely sized lake. my parents don't want the "hassle" of owning a boat, even a small one and the won't let me build a hydrofoil from the "dangers of it flipping." Oh well...
: Thanks.
