i built one this summer. we covered the entirer boat in fiberglass cloth. i drive the boat with the cockpit full of water even when stopped and the cockpit full of water it still floots and that is with a 15 hp motor on it. the mini max is a fun boat to drive and it never gets boring. a good site for more info is www.maineconnect.com/ptwd/
