Yes when we were building Racing Hydros we used a plastic spreader like a squeege to spread a thin sealer coat on the plywood before installing it on the boat. Sometimes we would wait until the first coat was almost dry and put on a second coat for bottom panels. That way it was much quicker to seal the inside under deck bottom and frame work before installing the deck panels.
