I am not familiar with the design. But you seem to have the right idea.
I have found that most anything is possible if you think it through.
Just don't overload your boat (diesels are heavy) and be careful to keep weight on stern, or when you get on following sea your boat could become a submarine when bow hits the wave ahead. Or could dig in and turn sharpely and try to roll over.
