I don't mean to be argumentative, but am I missing something? You're the second person to tell me the foam will be heavier. It just doesn't add up for me.
Okuome plywood = 27lbs/cu.ft
Sitka spruce = 28 lbs/cu.ft
Core Cell foam = 5.7 lbs/cu.ft
Assume both options (wood and foam) are fibreglassed inside and out.
Unless the foam absorbs a lot of resin, should it not weigh less than the equivalent wooden boat?
