Horisontal mahogany layer - Runabout; Tahoe 23'

The plans for this mahogany runabout tells me that its optional to plank the hullside with mahogany with a constant width or to make them narrower towards the stem, looking more like genuine planking. The latter seems to me like a hell of a job compared to the first method. In addition, I've seen examples of the first in traditionally planked boats.

Any good reason why I should bother to do it the hard way?
