I built V-dory 25 ft long in plywood. Powered it with two 70 hp outboards and have two 50 gallon gas tanks. I am in the tropics (Marshall Islands) and decided to rig it out as a center console with a large bimini top. It's too hot for a full cabin here although I have the plans and considered adding one for awhile. I use the boat for fishing in the Pacific Ocean. Mostly yellowfin tuna and wahoo, but it's also great for bottom fishing. Had it in the water for 6 months and use it several days a week - I love it. We have 22 ft Boston Whalers powered with the same motors on our island and I run circles around them. I can only imagine an aluminun version would fly. The V hull forward reduces the pounding considerably. We have pretty big seas here and when I'm chasing tuna and heading into the seas I moderate my speed to reduce pounding, but I think I would be doing this in a v-hull also. I grew up fishing in Destin, Florida and I think this boat would perform well in the Gulf. I'm happy to answer any questions you may have about this design.

: Iam interested in power/speed expections for these boats built in aluminum. How do they perform in rough water .It would have the optional cabin and be used in the Gulf of Mexico.
