Hi, I'm Doug, I owned a Zip for 23 years, a friend also built one in 88 and my brother built a Flying Saucer in 80.The Zip was wonderful and absolutely gorgeous. The lines are plywood boats at their best especially in the water with a 50 or 65 merc on back.We skied extensively really putting them to the test over the years. Shortcomings that surfaced with mine(after much much use) were worked out of the later boats. The ride is a little rough at speed but the boat always felt safe. I doubt the ride would be significantly better in any of its competitors. Anysort of windshield detracts immensely from those perfectl lines. The boat is fast, versatile, safe and stunning if laid out, built and finished right. If you choose a Zip or Flying Saucer I would be delighted to share specifics on what we learned.
