I built V-Dory in a 25 ft version and used treated 2X4's for the frames. I am on a small island 5,000 miles west of Ca. and had to be creative when selecting some of my materials. I epoxied and screwed the frames together and they have held up well. I keep my boat in the water and use it a lot in the ocean. I also decked over the frames on the inside of the boat and this has probably helped keep any movement down to a minimum.
