moisture content in treated yellow pine

Below I read some messages about using pressure treated yellow pine for replacement stringers and maybe for something else to be glassed over. One major consideration is the moisture content of yellow pine. Typically a salt treated pine is far too moist for the resin, epoxy or polyester, to bond to. As the mosture content drops...if it drops...the wood tends to shrink. This could create blistering problems in the most structural area of your boat.

If you're planning to use this type of wood, plan ahead and do it right. Tack screw the lumber onto the ceiling joists in your attic and redry the lumber for months before you try to use it in a boat. Also, 3/4 board is not enough structure unless you;re doubling it up and laminating with a piece of woven roving inside.
