: I am considering building this boat in the future and would like any information I can get about its construction, materials, costs etc. Please help, I am starting young at age twenty and want to enjoy sailing the ocean. Matt

I have been building the Reliant since Sept. 98. I work on it 2-3 nights per week and most weekends, mostly by myself. Until now. The floor timbers are being installed and they are so heavy it takes at least two just to move it around the shop.

This is a most rewarding and relaxing project. i wish I could work on it more.

I think I am about 30,000.00 into the project with the patterns standing, bulkheads installed, floor timbers in the process of being installed. All the white oak I will need has been purchased. I will probably spend another 20,000.00 before I turn the hull over, hopefully by the end of this summer.

The project is alot of work and substatial money, but more than worth it.

If interested I will be happy to e-mail pictures of the progress made to date.

Good Luck and go build a boat.

Jim
