: I'm in Texas looking for lumber that would be suitable for chine & rails on my first boat. The stuff (plans call for 1x2's) at the local yards and home centers isn't flexible enough. Have even thought about steambending. Is there any better ideas? Prefer not to "stitch & glue". Thanks.

I've found that in the foward areas if you use two half inch pieces one lamanted on top of the other you shouldn't have any problems. Instead of purchasing 1x material what I do is rip 2x material to the desired thickness.

Good luck..
