Delta Q Speed/Power Chart (*)

The speeds listed are approximate based on the listed displacement and will not be correct if the weight is increased. Speeds noted also assume that the propeller and reduction are matched to the engine being used. Speeds are noted in knots; to convert to MPH, divide by .87. All horsepower listings refer to shaft horsepower (SHP) S.A.E. ratings. The horsepower rating for diesel engines is the CONSTANT rating, not the intermittent one. If a gasoline motor is rated as BHP, multiply by .70 to estimate the SHP. Engine ratings given in D.I.N. will be about 8 percent less than S.A.E.; KW ratings will be about 75% of S.A.E. The chart will be the same for outboard motors, gasoline or diesel engines. If twin motors are used, the speeds apply to the total SHP of the engines used.

24'-11" x 22'-8" x 5860 lbs.
SHP Speed
52 SHP 14 knots
72 SHP 16 knots
94 SHP 18.5 knots
120 SHP 21 knots
150 SHP 23.5 knots
210 SHP 28 knots
(*) Shaft horsepower ratings (SHP) assume proper propeller and gear reductions. Additional power may be required to maintain a given speed if compromises are made in propeller size or reduction gear.
