Fig. 19 Lightly sand the hull after the laminate is applied to remove any protrusions, rubs, ridges, or other resin concentrations. Take care not to sand through the fiberglass material, however. Check the surface for any humps or dips, especially dishing between any form members. Sand the high areas more than the low areas to even out the surface somewhat if required.
Fig. 20 Resin putty filler is made to a trowelable consistency and applied to the surface using a broad knife, drywall trowel, wide putty knife, or other wide bladed screeding instrument. Keep the layer as thin as possible, applying less filler to high areas and more to lower areas. If the surface is quite unfair, an additional coat may be required, but it is still desirable to keep the filler coat to a minimum. Continue |
