.( 12/06/01 ) Boat stands to hold boat upside down over bench when glassing outside. |
.( 12/07/01 ) Outside seams and wire holes filled and ready to sand and round over. |
.( 12/06/01 ) Boat all sanded and ready to apply seam tape to the outside. |
.(1/26/02) This is the hull sanded and ready to tape seams with 3" glass tape, cut from scraps of other boats. I'm using 6oz. glass, and cutting the tape on the bias to I will get stronger seams and it will lay down easier when saturated with resin. I have gone through scraps left over from a friends boats and cut many pieces of bias tape, all draped over the hull. |
.(1/26/02) This shows the stem, where there is a very severe angle for the tape to cover and lay down flat. The "bias cut" tape has no problem accomplishing this. In order to keep it down I first covered the area with epoxy using a spatula (bondo type) and then layed the cloth tape over that and pressed it down. Once it was all stuck down, I again used the spatula to coat the outside of the tape with more resin until it was completely saturated. |
