Building the Zip
After the epoxy set, all screws were removed, the holes were countersunk and filled with an epoxy filler. The surfaces were then sanded and made ready for the clear urethane finish. The joints were calked prior to the last two coats of urethane.
The seat bases were made for storage of "stuff".
The seats were made of ½" DF marine plywood. Both back and bottoms are easily removed for access to the storage area below. The side storage compartments were made of ¼ inch mahogany plywood and solid wood trim pieces.
Needing more space and ceiling height, the boat was moved from the shop to our garage. My wife surrendered her parking space for a few weeks while the trim was applied and boat hoisted onto the trailer.
The rub rails are standard stainless steel. The cutwater and transom bands were made from 16 ga stainless steel and polished. The deck hardware is stainless steel. The lifting eye on the forward deck( A Glen-L design) extends to the keel via a ½" stainless rod.
I can't really say when a project like this is truly finished, but here is the point where I stopped doing things. It's time to launch.
It's time to "getitdone". |
