Build your own boat Completed tunnel sides. Because plywood is 8' long and the scarf joint consumes 2+", and the boat is 16' long, one scarf is insufficient for nearly all panels on this boat. All scarfs were planed by hand with an extremely sharp jack plane; this is not as difficult as it sounds. The tunnel side cleats have been installed, but not runner keels or runner stems. Note notch for the bowpiece. (Butt joints can also be made, which do not consume any additional material.)
Build your own boat Tunnel sides just prior to installation. Sides have been epoxy coated, screws countersunk.
Build your own boat Adding a 10 degree bevel to the runner stems can be effectively done with a disk sander. A plane doesn't work well because of end grain. (A plane can be used but must be sharp. Plane from aft, with the curve, and end grain is not a problem.)
