Fig 17: The keel and sheer must also be faired to enable the planking to lie flat to all members.
Fig 18: In the forward section, the chine log will transition from a lap joint to a butt joint at the stem. From approximately Frame #3, a line is drawn along the chine from the faired edge to the center of this member where it meets the stem. Above this line the chine is faired for the bottom planking as required. The portion below should require little, if any, fairing for the side planking.
Fig 19: The stem must also be faired to allow the planking to mate firmly on all members.
