Glen-L 13 Construction Pictorial
Fig 20: The completely faired hull is ready for planking.
Fig 21: Prior to planking, the centerboard pin-hole should be cleaned out. This hole was drilled prior to assembly, but needs to be cleaned out after fiberglassing. Swabbing the inside of the hole with epoxy resin will add additional protection against future problems.
Fig 22: The plywood planking is roughly cut to fit, leaned against the side of the hull and held in position with several locating screws or clamps. The only portion that is necessary to fit carefully is that portion forward of frame #3. In this area the bottom planking will butt to the side panel. Aft of this area, the side planking may be left oversize. After fastening in place, it will be faired to allow the bottom planking to lap. Note: The planking panels shown are full-length. Today, these would be joined from standard 8' panels, using a butt block or scarf joint.
