Fig 25: The batten along the forward deck continues the line of the carling as seen in planview. These members will end on top of the stem, with soft pine blocking on either side, faired to the sheer.
Fig 26: The aft portion of the side decking is butt-joined to the forward portion and backed with a butt block fitted between the carling and sheer.
Fig 27: After trimming the decking overhang along the carling, the coaming is installed, fitting from the transom to Frame #5. Note the cutaway in the bottom edge of the coaming at the transom. The plywood transom knee will fit into the notch and fasten to the carling.
