Well, look at it this way - the Glen-L site has more pictures of completed and well-used boats on it than any other boat plans site that I've seen. This company has also been around for many years. To me, that means that they have had the time and experience to ensure their boats are plenty strong enough for the intended use. Of course there are other methods that may be as (or more) strong but if it's that much more money then you have to question the value. Just my opinion only. (Does this endorsement get me a free frame kit for my next boat? - ha ha).
: I am very new to all of this, just getting started on the tubby tug, so bear with me. I was reading some plans on another site and they talk about fiberglas wood sandwhich const. Basically wood hull glassed inside and out. There claim is that the strength comes from the fiberglas not the wood. Glen-L designs get strength from the wood? I would like someone to explain this claim. By the way it looks to me like Glen-L prices are far cheaper than the other site. I was just comparing the fiberglass kits on 19-20 foot boats and even if I ordered two Glen-l kits (so I could glass the inside too) it would still be cheaper than one of theirs.
