I agree with George. Encapsulate everything. I built a Glen-L Rob Roy six years ago. It has spent every day since then outside in rainy Oregon and now is stored on an exterior wall of our boat house. The boat has been used by two teenage sons and me in both salt-water and fresh. It's gotten banged and battered and generally over-used. And it keeps on ticking. The exterior was encapsulated, seams-only glassed and painted with exterior house paint. Inside was simply encapsulated.
