Gary,

Structural foams such as are described in the Boatbuilding Methods section of the Glen-L site, cannot simply be substituted for plywood. They must have fiberglass laminates applied inside and out.
These materials are more expensive than the plywood called for and would be heavier. For lightest weight, use a lightweight wood for the framing (Sitka spruce) and okoume plywood.
