Horsepower, yes. But what about torque? And what drive ratio would you use? Those big V-8's (especially the four bolt main truck engines) make great marine engines because they can deliver huge amounts of torque almost endlessly. I suspect the little V-6's deliver their horsepower at higher RPM's, meaning less torque. I'm not sure they'll hold up as well.

I'll attempt to get an engine expert friend's input.
