Wet transom wood

I drilled a hole for a bait well pump in my JIMBO transom 4 inches below the waterline. The inside wood was soaked and water dribbled out for a few minutes. There are no obvious leaks. I previously drilled holes to install a transducer and drain plugs below waterline. I sealed the drain plug holes with epoxy but not the transducer screw holes. Could these holes have seeped water and soaked the transom interior wood? How can I fix this ? Do I need to worry about it ?
