: : In the Crackerbox plans, it states to use standard lumber yard dimensioned 2x6 fir. Can a pressure treated pine 2x6 be used, or are they looking for a Douglas-fir type of wood here?

: : Thanks!

: There are so many types of pine that you have to be careful. Longleaf yellow pine is durable, strong, and rot resistant, similar to oak. White pine is junk. There are special types of pine grown by the logging industry that is super fast growing and popular in the lunber industry because they yield decent money, not what you want for your boat.
: Old style yellow pine would work if you can identify it, and find it.

I had considered using 2x6 pressure treated lumber like the decking material on the back of your house, but I don't know what type of pine it is. Can anyone suggest a lumber that is readily available and not too expensive? (I would think solid mahogany would probably break the bank!)
