Console skiff engine options

I am fortunate to have two alternatives for my Console Skiff (not yet completed). I have an '87 mercury 50 hp and a slightly newer/better running Evinrude 70. I suspect the 50 is ideal for the boat. Is the 70 way too much? I am not looking for speed. It simply is a better running engine.

Any thoughts are welcome.
