I have a carvel planked hull. In the past I have used 5200 to caulk seams. I have noticed that the seams below the water line don't seem to hold the caulk well. I am wondering if I should pound cotton in the seams before caulking? The caulk seems to get pushed out when the wood swells. Any suggestions??
