Fred- You can find sheet AL at most large metal suppliers (steelyards). It ain't hard to weld AL IF (BIG IF) you have the right equipment and the proper training/practice. I'd suggest you sign up at your local comm. college for night welding classes & practice for a while before you tackle a boat sized project.
