Mark- Nice Riv!!!

Anyone- Is it possible to stain the wood before the 'glass & epoxy or will that ruin the adhesion? I like the idea of "Varathaning" the finished wood to preserve it & protect it from H2O, etc., but I don't care for most woods without a stain to bring out the true beauty of the grain... Anyone know if you HAVE to epoxy over clean unstained wood or not?

: For mine, I used 4 oz "deck cloth" on the top and 6 oz on the sides. The 4 oz is very nearly invisible except at a low angle in a few spots where it has the faintest "shimmer" in the finish. 4 oz cloth is a bit hard to find but Glen-L has it.

: The wood really "lights up" under the epoxy. It is very similar in depth to an oil and varnish finish.

: The cloth provides a lot of dent and abrasion protection. In 3 seasons of hard use there is one small delamination spot to repair (due to being bashed by a pontoon boat), but the glass has held and remained water tight. If it had been wood and varnish, there would have been a gouge and bare wood.
