Driver in front cockpit. Better visibility and you can fend off or grab on while docking.
Must go with a chevy 350 based engine (beware of height issues though). This will yeild 250-320 HP. Plenty fast.
Plastic tank is OK I have one in my Riviera (sister design to the Monaco)
The half oval tri for the shears / gunnel is commonly available in 6 foot lengths including from Glen-L. 12' pieces are availabel from shipstore.com. The long lengths will have to ship by truck, ~$125 minimum. The upside is that aside from fewer joints it is almost half the price per foot of the 6' pieces. So with lower price per foot and the higher shipping charges, you almost break even.
Steer o nthe right with a right hand prop. Counteracts torque.
Varnish is OK, 2 part poly is better. YOU MUST apply an additional finish for UV protection of the epoxy.
